Brad Delson, Michael Shinoda and Robert Bourdon effectively started Linkin Park at High School in Southern California, but the band wasn't complete until Shinoda met Joe Hahn at art school and Chester Bennington was brought in to replace original singer Mark Wakefield. For a long time, they struggled for recognition, changing their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory to Linkin Park - a play on Lincoln Park in Santa Monica - but a gig at LA's famous Whiskey Club persuaded the Warner label to sign them.

Their enlightened combination of driving hard rock, samples and electronica made a big impact and their 2000 debut album 'Hybrid Theory', produced by Don Gilmore and featured in the movies 'Dracula 2000', 'Little Nicky' and 'Valentine', sold nearly five million copies in its first year, produced three hit singles and got them nominated for three Grammy Awards.

Subsequent albums were equally successful and their spectacular stage show made them one of the world's biggest bands. 'Minutes to Midnight' was released in 2007 with the first single 'What I've Done' making a big impact on the charts and being used in the action film 'Transformers'. They toured with the album and also made appearances at festivals all over the world.

After the success of 'Transformers', Linkin Park worked with composer Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack to the sequel 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. At the same time, they put the finishing touches to their fourth album 'A Thousand Suns' which saw the band nominated for six Billboard Awards. 'Living Things' and 'The Hunting Party' followed with the band announcing that their seventh studio album 'One More Light' would be released in 2017. The album's lead single 'Heavy', featuring vocals from Kiiara, was released in February 2017 with the album following in May. On 20th July 2017, Chester Bennington was found dead in his home after an apparent suicide. The band's scheduled North America tour was canceled with their future as yet unknown.
